On the flipside, there are a lot of countries that exist among minimal or no path to technology, which restricts their benefits.
Description of Poverty
Poverty get described as either absolute or relative. Absolute poverty scales poverty in correlation to the financial requirements needed to cater for basic needs such as food, shelter and clothing. It is evident in Sub-Saharan Africa where some people live on less than a dollar per day (Galperin et.al, 2007). The concept of relative poverty gets explained as the relationship between other societal members and the economic ranks. In a particular context in society, people are classified as poor if they lie beneath the dominating ideals of living, for example, in South Asia. Relative poverty rises from three outlooks: income, basic needs and capability views (Galperin et.al, 2007). The income perspective indicates that an individual is poor if his or her salary falls below a nation’s poverty line. According to the basic needs point of view, it incorporates the essential of the basic social services needed to obstruct people from sinking into poverty. Capability outlook states that poverty is a sign of inadequate capability to carry out tasks
Advantages and Disadvantages of Poverty
Poor people may get help from the government through getting stipends per month and receiving food stamps. Besides, the less privileged do not have to file tax returns. Community organizations exist for people with various issues. Therefore, a person can also get assistance like looking for a job. Poor people are more likely to have horned life skills compared to their rich counterparts. The demerits, however can make a person rely on the assistance thus obstructing their path to independence. Other requirements, are put on hold for the sake of saving money, for instance, an individual may forego a meal and miss out on dietary requirements needed by the body to make money. Poor people have no networks because they do not have the skills to create them.
Effects of Poverty
The gap between developed and under developed nation is of a great worry considering the steps taken towards the growth of technology. Developing countries are at a liability of trailing; hence solid interventions are urgently required (Galperin et.al, 2007). Digital poverty leads to the inability to access the internet, meaning the affected populations miss out on the huge social and economic perks that ICT has to offer.
Solutions to Digital Poverty
The government should ensure that there is a regulatory environment between the business and ICT market, and the capability to come up with an economic significance should be mandatory for all nations. Use of broadband should get boosted so that ICT can be accessible to everyone, especially in developing countries (Galperin et.al, 2007). In inclusion to government interventions, people should be inspired to take part in the digital economy. Supply of services and infrastructure is necessary to embolden more people to get on online platforms (Galperin et.al, 2007). Major shareholders in the digital environment should apply coordinated approaches to realize this need.
Personal Elements of the United Arab Emirates
Abu Dhabi was one of the less privileged Emirates and was known for farming near the oasis, small-scale fishery activities and herding of camels. Nevertheless, this changed with the discovery of oil (Galperin et.al, 2007). The leading kin in 1962 facilitated the start of oil export, turning the less privileged Emirates into successful Emirates. Dubai focused on gaining its niche as the busiest business spot in the region. The United Arab Emirates assists some contraries in various ways. Egypt is a beneficiary of foreign aid, which has enabled growth in the country in the areas of infrastructure and financial gain. In Pakistan, foreign aid from the UAE has gone towards developing schools, roads, health care facilities and bridges (Galperin et.al, 2007). The UAE has helped Afghanistan in the building of infrastructural facilities such as health clinics, irrigation mediums and learning institutions, in addition to implementing the use of solar energy.
Conclusion
Poverty is brought about by limitations of resources in whatever form, leading to the scarcity or lack thereof of means to sustain and acquire basic needs. To rise out of poverty, training and equipping of individuals with knowledge and skills is vital, especially in poverty stricken areas like Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. The UAE presents a story from rags to riches due to its rise from poverty to prosperity, to the point of offering financial aid to other countries. Poverty is widespread in that the percentages of nations that are not digitally poor are significantly fewer than digitally poor countries. The major concern is that it is an obstruction to economic growth in many parameters. Multidisciplinary approaches should be put in place in solving the problem to narrow the gap between developed and less developed countries.
